Phil and the Crown
Phil knew Paul's writings. Today, as Paul taught in a letter sent to the church in Corinth, Phil went to receive his crown, not made by man but presented to him by God. In 1 Corinthians 9:25b Paul assures us that it is worthwhile to live as God encourages us to. Paul says 'we do it to get a crown that will last forever'. Phil has lived well, loving God and others, and has victoriously finished the race. He led his house in the way of the Lord and will forever be blessed for that. Phil peacefully left his mortal body and it's ailments behind this afternoon. He was surrounded by a loving crowd of witnesses-family and friends. We have much to care for still: A family in mourning and yet joyful that, as Chelle is saying, Phil "is dancing in heaven now". Please remember Kathy, Joe and Chelle in your prayers and in your activities in the weeks to come. We love you Phil, we will miss you from today until that glorious day when we meet again. You the teacher, and us, your students.- Rod
